Tim Dereu – Physiotherapist – B.ExSc, M.Phty, APAM
Tim graduated from the University of Sydney with a Masters of Physiotherapy, along with a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science at UTS. Tim has had a range of experience in public, private and hospital settings ranging from Neurological rehabilitation to acute orthopaedic and sports Physiotherapy. During this time Tim has worked closely with the elderly population running tailored home exercise programs and group classes using his extensive knowledge of exercise prescription.
Additionally, working with elite athletes, the general public and rehabilitation for patient’s post-surgery or disease. Tim has developed strong clinical reasoning, assessment and injury prevention skills through working as a sports trainer for Warringah Rats, UNSW Eastern Suburb Bulldogs, Newport Rugby and SCEGGS basketball.
Further, Tim is a qualified Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coach, Level 1 Sports Trainer, Certificate III & IV in Fitness and has completed a range of sports taping and injury prevention courses. As someone who has played sport his whole life. Tim has experienced an abundance of injuries and understands the physical and psychological demands placed upon the patient during this time. Mobility and strength is Tim’s foundation in physiotherapy with a strong emphasis on educating the patient about their bodies, improving their movement patterns, posture and returning to pain free movement.
Fun Fact: Tim previously was a state cross country runner and a competitive surfer along with playing almost every sport under the sun. Outside of work Tim enjoys surfing, running and resistance training.
